Over the past few years I've moonlighted here and there as a flower delivery driver. It wasn't great pay, but I loved the work. Everyone smiles at you when you're bringing flowers. What's not to love about that kind of job?

One thing I know about flowers is that you want them from a florist rather than getting the Wal-mart special bouquet--and I don't say that because I used to deliver for florists. Good fresh-cut flowers last a week or more, and credentialed florists know how to pick 'em. Literally.
Another holiday idea also comes from the folks at 1800Flowers.com: gift baskets! So many cool things can come in gift baskets: fruit, wines, cheese, plush animals, and--my personal fave--chocolate. Can't make it to the relatives for Thanksgiving? (Or made a lame excuse why you couldn't be there?) Sending a well-designed and decorated gift basket with wine or sweets might be just the thing to keep you in good graces.
